A Kelowna man plans to buy property in eastern Canada after winning $100,000 on a scratch ticket.

Marcel Poisson was with his life partner on a walk when they stopped for a drink at Hollywood Market on Hollywood Road South in Kelowna, according to a BC Lottery Corporation media release. He bought a 5X the Cash scratch and win ticket.

"The ticket looked like a good one so I just bought it on a whim,” Poisson said in the release.

And sure enough, it turned out to be a good one. Poisson was still in the Hollywood Market when he scratched the ticket and realized he’d won $100,000.

“I walked out of the store and thought, ‘This can’t be real.' It didn’t feel real,” he said.

Poisson claimed his $100,000 prize, April 28.

In addition to property in eastern Canada he's also considering going back to school thanks to the money.

“This win gives me time to save money for my kids and explore life a little bit. It’s a chance to slow down," he said.
