A Kelowna lawyer has been suspended for one month by the Law Society of B.C. for professional misconduct.

George “Geord” Roland Holland admitted he practiced law while already under administrative suspension, according to a law society media release issued today, Sept. 17.

Holland, who has been practicing law since 1980, also admitted to failing to complete his annual professional development requirement, which was why he was under administrative suspension.

The law society said Holland acknowledged “he exercised poor judgement in failing to apprehend the serious nature of the administrative suspension.”

Holland said in a consent agreement with the law society that he “failed to comprehend the serious nature of the suspension, and that this was poor judgment on his part.”

The suspension will begin on Oct. 1.
