CENTRAL OKANAGAN - Liberal MP Stephen Fuhr will act as grand marshal of the 2016 We Are One pride march in Kelowna.

Okanagan Pride Society announced in a press release the newly-minted MP was chosen because of his committment to Canada, both as a pilot and politician.

The society praised Fuhr as an ally to the LGBTQ community and say he stands behind the Liberal commitment for equal rights and inclusion.

We Are One pride march begins at Stuart Park on Water Street and Doyle Ave in downtown Kelowna at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, August 13 and ends in City Park where the Okanagan Pride Festival will be opening its gates.
