KELOWNA -  An early morning blaze on Lakeshore Road in Kelowna was snuffed out quickly but the cause is still under investigation.

The Kelowna Fire Department dispatch center received a 911 call at approximately 3:30 a.m. today, Aug. 21, reporting a structure fire in the 4300 block of Lakeshore Road.

"Upon arrival heavy smoke was coming from the home, the four tenants of the home were outside," platoon captain Jarret Dais said in a press release.

"Two attack crews entered the basement of the home and extinguished the fire located in one of the bedrooms. A search was initiated for pets that were believed to be in the home. All but one of the pets were accounted for."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
