Kelowna gets severe thunderstorm warning; hail expected

Hail beats down on a residential patio in Okanagan Falls on Sept. 22, 2018.

Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a pair of severe thunderstorms headed toward Kelowna, capable of producing pea size hail and heavy rain upwards of 15 millimetres an hour.

The first storm is currently over West Kelowna, headed slowly eastwards.

The second storm is near Wilson Landing, also headed eastwards.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
