Springfield Funeral Home has served Kelowna since 1981 and wants to expand.
The business, at the corner of Springfield and Ambrosi roads, also owns the neighbouring property where OK Tire is now operating.
An application filed with the City of Kelowna says they want to join the two buildings, by extending the OK Tire building, and use it as a two-storey crematorium.

“This extension would act as the space where the crematorium stack would reside at; and it will be accessible from both the buildings,” a letter with the application says. “This renovation will also be a noteworthy revitalization for the neighbourhood.”
Both the lots are owned by Kelowna Crematorium Ltd., the application says.

There is no mention of what will happen to the OK Tire business. It has three other locations in Kelowna.
