Days after a police incident shut down Highway 97, a woman reported her brother was the victim of a fatal shooting.

Jacqueline Kofoed announced on social media that her brother Jeremy Kofoed was tragically shot and killed.

“It is with broken hearts that we share the sad news that our dear Jeremy (my brother) was the victim of a fatal shooting that took place at Adventure Trucks on Wednesday, March 27,” she wrote. “This was the tragic result of an argument between Jeremy and a known acquaintance that escalated to the point of violence. After Jeremy was shot, it appears the known acquaintance started a fire in the building then took his own life.”

Kelowna RCMP provided an update in a press release at 12:30 p.m. today, March 30.

Police received a report of shots fired in the 100-block of Adams Road at 2:30 p.m. on March 27.

RCMP said following the gunshots there was a structure fire, and when officers went into the business they found two people dead. Police did not reveal the identities of either deceased.

Police believe this is an isolated incident with no risk to the public.

Kelowna’s Serious Crimes Unit and the BC Coroners Service are still investigating.

Jeremy Kofoed was the owner of Adventure Trucks, where he helped people upgrade their vehicles so they could explore the great outdoors.

“We are all together, surrounding Jer's family with love and support, trying to make sense of the magnitude of this tragedy. Thank you so much for your love and care,” she wrote.
