KELOWNA – The Kelowna game company responsible for bringing Sunnyvale Trailer Park to your coffee table as a boardgame have secured the rights to another TV show.
Vikings: Raid and Conquer is based on the History Channel show Vikings. Similar in game play to Magic: The Gathering, Raid and Conquer is a deck-building game, Mark Tompkins with High Roller Games says.
“It’s the next level. Instead of bringing your own cards, everyone starts equally and you gradually build up your deck. You can attack other players and raid other countries. You can form alliances and players can betray each other as well. The goal is to go on raids and collect treasure cards and try to become a Viking Legend.
A year and a half went into getting permission from the owners of the show and their pitch required concept art that was only possible after months of testing a prototype.
We’ve been fans (of the show) from the beginning,” game co-creator Derek Hodgins says. “They liked it and gave us the full go ahead.”
High Roller Games Kickstarter account has already brought in over $11,000 from 115 backers.
