Kelowna cab driver charged with sexual assault

KELOWNA - A local cab driver has been charged with sexual assault following a Kelowna RCMP investigation in May. 

On May 28, 2019, Kelowna RCMP received a report alleging that a taxi passenger had been sexually assaulted by a taxi cab driver. Police were informed that the alleged victim was outside the taxicab at her destination in Kelowna when the alleged assault took place, in the early morning of May 26, according to an RCMP release.

A suspect was arrested on May 30, 2019, and released on strict conditions pending a first court appearance, and the suspect's chauffeur permit was surrendered to police. 

37-year-old Gagandeep Singh Sidhu of Kelowna first appeared in Kelowna Law Courts on July 4, 2019. The matter is now set for a further court appearance July 25, 2019, at 1:30 p.m.
