Kelowna bank robbed, police searching for suspect

RCMP officers are investigating after a man allegedly robbed a Kelowna bank this morning.

On July 31, just after 10 a.m. the RCMP received a report of a bank robbery in progress at the RBC branch on Pandosy Street. RCMP officers, a helicopter and the Police Dog Services flooded the area but have been unable to locate the man.

The suspect entered the RBC and pulled out what appeared to be a handgun, before demanding cash. He then fled the scene with the cash.

“Officers are conducting a coordinated search for the individual and are asking the public to report any suspicious activity immediately,” said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy media relations officer for the Kelowna RCMP, in a press release. “Please do not approach or attempt to stop this person if you believe you have seen him.”

The suspect is described as male and was wearing a dark baseball cap, sunglasses, a grey hoody and mask.

Anyone with any information about this crime can contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online.
