Kelowna anti-vaccine martial arts studio location now 'for lease'

The former location of Flow Academy on Sutherland Avenue.

A Kelowna martial arts academy locked out of its own studio for continuously defying public health orders is no longer located on Sutherland Avenue.

Flow Academy was originally ordered by Interior Health to close in February for holding indoor exercise classes in contravention of public health orders aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19.

In April, the academy gained media attention when it posted on its website that it would not give out memberships to those who received a COVID-19 vaccine, citing COVID-19 conspiracy theories like “viral shedding” as a reason.

In May, Interior Health officers and bylaw officers changed the locks on the studio as it continued to defy heath orders. Now the location has a “for lease” sign and the Flow Academy sign has been removed.

Flow Academy also applied to get a business licence in March at its former location but was denied because the business was not in line with public health procedures, said Lance Kayfish, in a previous interview with iNFOnews. It has been fined by the city multiple times for operating without a licence.

Flow Academy’s social media accounts and website have also been taken down.

The owner of the studio could not be reached for comment.
