KELOWNA – It's been a while since anti-abortion activists in Kelowna have stirred up controversy, but may soon change.
The Kelowna Right to Life Society has equipped a commercial van with photos that were the subject of vandalism and protests when the group put them on billboards along Highway 97 in West Kelowna in 2016.
The group eventually replaced the photo, which implied people care more for animals than people, with a milder image of a child thanking its mother for its life.
The same group recently announced plans to drive a van around the city two days a week with anti-abortion messaging on the side. Some of the images will be familiar.
“The messages will vary and will include the controversial images of babies who have been killed by abortion,” their announcement posted to Facebook reads. “The society owns the truck and plans to utilize it as a permanent mobile billboard that adds another dimension to its educational outreach to the community.”
