SHADOW RIDGE GOLF COURSE WILL STAY OPEN FOR FORESEEABLE FUTURE

KELOWNA - It’s going to stay open for now but the Shadow Ridge golf club will eventually become part of the Kelowna International Airport.

The city has announced the purchase of the 18-hole golf course that lies directly south of the airport and has long been known by golfers enjoying a game to also enjoy close up views of aircraft of all kinds taking off and landing.

Golf course manager Dan Weddel says in a media release from the city the 84-acre site wil remain open and fully operational for the foreseable future.

The city says it will be looking for a third party operator for the course beginning in 2017.

No purchase price was revealed but acquisition of the site was identified as key to the airport’s future growth in its master plan, extending through to 2025.
