One of the most beloved attractions in the Okanagan is among the businesses tentatively planning to awaken from its COVID-19 slumber in the weeks ahead.

Kangaroo Creek Farm in Kelowna announced through Facebook that it is intending to open on Sunday, May 31.

"Please keep in mind that this date is tentative," reads the post.

"A firm date will be announced the week before. We would be interested to hear what potential visitors would like to see in place to make them feel safer. Please give us your ideas and expectations."

Once all the details are hammered out, it's clear that the farm will be hopping with new life for visitors to enjoy in a new location at 5932 Old Vernon Road, which is near the north end of the Kelowna airport at the junction of Old Vernon Road and Postill Lake Road.

Kangaroo Creek Farm has been posting pictures of its new joeys, during the time it's been closed to visitors.

“However, most kangaroos and wallabies are seasonal breeders in that their joeys usually emerge from the pouch in spring/summer. Our Bennett wallabies almost always have their joeys in the spring/summer,” they said.

They said sometimes a joey is hard to detect in the pouch until it becomes quite large and starts to wriggle around.
