Kamloops youth career fest launches

KAMLOOPS - The Your Tomorrow – Career Fest is a great upcoming event for youth aged 15-30 to get a kick start in seeking employment, training and assistance in developing their work search and employability skills. Over the past couple of months there has been a dedicated group of professionals and youth working hard to bring a vision; where youth will be able have a strong start in achieving their career dreams and goals. We have contacted many organizations directly and are currently working on filling the (Interior Community Savings Centre’s) Parkside Lounge with vendors who are passionate about providing meaningful career opportunities for Youth in Kamloops.

The unemployment rate in Kamloops for January 2015 was 10.2 per cent*. We have heard from many youth that work in Kamloops is difficult to find and many are forced to move to find meaningful employment. This is not the direction that we want to see Kamloops on. In order for Kamloops to thrive into the future we need to provide opportunities for our young professionals in find work locally.

We welcome everyone to join Kamloops the first ever Your Tomorrow - Career Fest! We will see you there on March 25th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Parkside Lounge, Interior Savings Centre, 300 Lorne St. Kamloops. If you are a youth aged 15-30 we encourage you to come check out the employers that will be filling the Parkside Lounge during the event and useful resources available.

The Your Tomorrow Career Fest is able to exist because of our great partners & sponsors, which include: The City of Kamloops, Canadian Linen, Interior Community Services, Work BC, the YMCA, BladeRunners Employment Program, Community Living BC, John Howard Society Thompson Region, Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society, Lii Michif Otipemisiwak Family and Community Services, Kamloops Immigrant Society, Industry Training Authority, Phoenix and many more.
