A Kamloops woman wants you to know meal prepping isn’t just for gym enthusiasts or Instagram influencers.

For many people, spending time preparing meals for the week  can be time consuming and stressful, and Gabrielle Charlebois with Back to Basic Eats is offering a new service to help you eat the food you want without having to rearrange your schedule.

The new meal prep delivery service is a transformation from her original business that started in 2017. Charlebois began her business by offering in-home meal preparation for people interested in paleo-based diets.

“(My business) has evolved from in-home food preparation to now individual prepared meals serving the Kamloops and Sun Peaks area,” Charlebois says.

Her website allows for people to choose the foods they would like to order before Thursdays and the food is delivered on the following Mondays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The menu consists of paleo-based foods which means a variety of fruits, vegetables, and locally sourced meat. The meals prepared by Charlebois don’t contain any legumes, sugar, wheat, grain or dairy, according to her website.

Charlebois says she started the service to provide people with an opportunity to eat nutritious meals without having to worry about the time spent meal prepping.

"I think a lot of people, more so females and mothers, they kind of put themselves on the back burner and don't fully understand in order for us to be the best for our families and friends we need to take care of ourselves," she says. "So by providing an option where a family can have a night off with regards to having meals prepared that would be one less thing mom or anyone else in the household has to worry about taking care of."

Currently, Charlebois is the cook and driver behind her delivery service but she hopes to expand once business picks up.
