Kamloops to see third library branch

Kamloops will see its third library branch, which is set to serve a growing neighbourhood.

The Thompson Nicola Regional Library is planning to open a third location in the River City.

At its last committee of the whole meeting, the Thompson Nicola Regional District board of directors unanimously voted in favour of pursuing capital funding for a third branch. A new library was the first priority of the Thompson Nicola Regional Library’s Facilities Master Plan.

“We’re committed to improving library services throughout the Regional District,” says chief librarian Judy Moore in a media release. “We’re so delighted to have the support of the (Thompson Nicola Regional District) Board for this important next step in making the dream of a third library location a reality.”

Currently, the organization is looking for a 25,000 square foot space in the southwest part of Kamloops, so that residents in the growing areas around Aberdeen area have access to the facility.
