Police are looking for answers after a tent burned behind a commercial building in the 400 block of Tranquille Road in Kamloops early this morning, Nov. 9.

A Kamloops RCMP officer, who was patrolling the area, was approached by a resident at about 9:30 a.m. with concerns for the safety of the person who had been in the tent.

“In order to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure no one had perished in the blaze, police blocked the area and requested Kamloops Fire Rescue attend,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, said in a news release. “No signs of human remains were present.”

The fire department had put the fire out at around 3 a.m. No one was seen in or around the tent.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-40344.
