Traffic was backed up for hours in Kamloops along Highway 1 after a crash that ejected two people from a semi-truck.
On Feb. 12 at approximately 9:15 p.m. the Kamloops RCMP were called to a single-vehicle incident involving a semi-truck on Highway 1 in the eastbound lane between Hillside Drive and Summit Drive, according to the RCMP in a press release.
The truck appeared to have lost control and flipped on its side, causing the trailer to tear open, sending debris over 300 metres and across four lanes of traffic.
The two people in the truck were ejected in the process but suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They have been taken to a local medical facility for further assessment, according to the RCMP.
The highway was cleared and has since reopened.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in this incident. The RCMP asks the public to use caution and appropriate speed for road conditions while operating vehicles on the roadway.
