Search and rescue teams from nearby towns have been called in to assist RCMP in the search for a missing Kamloops man who was last seen this past weekend.

Fourteen Kamloops Search and Rescue members began searching yesterday, Nov. 28, for Richard Jules, 48, on Tk'emlups te Secwepemc land near Kamloops.

Kamloops Search and Rescue members were called in by RCMP to assist local police in the search for Jules yesterday, Nov. 28 and will continue the search today, according to search manager Alan Hobler.

"We are going to give it a full day search today... We don't have lots of information to go on so in a lot of ways it's a needle in a haystack," Hobler says, adding search teams from Salmon Arm, Nicola-Valley, Logan Lake and Barriere have been called in to assist in the search.

Teams will be looking for Jules on Tk'emlúps te Secwepemc land from the Halston Connector to the South Thompson River, as well as in the Mount Paul Industrial Park area, Hobler says. According to police, Jules was last seen at his residence on Nov. 23.

Hobler says there are some challenges in this search as members nor police have a starting point or a last known point for Jules.

"It makes it hard to search but we know where he lives, we know his habits, so there is a good chance he is going to be in that area," he says. "He lived alone, we don't know when he possibly disappeared and we don't know where he was and what he was doing at the time which makes it a very hard search."

Two K9 teams have also been aiding in the search.

Jules is described as an aboriginal man, 5'5" tall, 95 lbs., with short straight brown hair and he may have a mousache. He was possibly wearing a red and white jacket, and work boots.

The search continues today with the help of drone teams.
