A suspect was arrested after a Kamloops homeowner was woken up early in the morning by stranger in their kitchen this past weekend.

Officers were called to report of a break and enter at around 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, in the 1600 block of Chickadee Road in Kamloops, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP say the homeowner woke to the sound of breaking glass and drawers rattling in the kitchen and found a stranger fixing themselves some food.

The homeowner told the person to leave and called police.

The suspect was arrested nearby without incident.

RCMP do not say if any charges will be laid or if the suspect is still in custody.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to the incident is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference 2021-31981.
