KAMLOOPS - More than $40,000 was raised for the United Way at the Regimental Ball in Kamloops last month.
Officials from the Kamloops RCMP and the B.C. Lottery Corporation presented a cheque worth $42,500 to the United Way’s Community Fund today, Nov. 18.
The funds were raised by the detachment’s Regimental Ball on Oct. 17, which was sponsored by the corporation.
In a media release, Cpl. Cheryl Bush, a spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP, says the money raised through the formal gala will go towards programs that 'stimulate change, embrace the possibility of a better life and make our community strong.'
On behalf of the detachment and the corporation, Bush says Supt. Brad Mueller extends a thank you to the community and sponsors for supporting the event.
