The pandemic has not deterred Kamloops bike thieves.
Kamloops RCMP have been responding to more reports of bicycle thefts in recent weeks, and they are urging the public to practice theft prevention, according to a media release.
When bikes are not in use it's important to secure them with a high quality steel lock, and whenever possible, store them indoors, RCMP said. Bikes stored in vehicles are targets for thieves.
In the event that a bike is stolen, finding it is facilitated if the owner has current photos of their bike, and has recorded the serial number.
RCMP said you can also register your bike on the 529 Garage app, which allows authorities to easily contact you when your bike is recovered.
If your bike is stolen, report it immediately to the police and provide the serial number and bike photos. If you find your bike in the community, do not attempt to retrieve it on your own, just contact police.
