Kamloops RCMP warn: protect your holiday gifts

You’ve spent the money and taken the time to find the perfect gifts, now make sure to protect them from thieves.

Kamloops RCMP reminds Christmas shoppers to never leave purchases or other valuables inside of your vehicle, even if it is locked.  Instead, if you have more shopping to do, lock your bags inside the trunk of your vehicle.

If you do some shopping online this holiday season and expect some packages to be delivered to your home, it’s important to know there are thieves out there who will take them right from your doorstep.

To prevent home deliveries from being stolen, consider sending the package to your workplace or to a family member, friend or neighbor who is home during the day to accept delivery.  It’s also a good idea to request a signature.  Many packages today are sent without requiring a signature for delivery.  If you’re shipping something of high value – or you just want to be sure items aren’t left unattended – you can require a signature for packages to be released.

Protect your gifts by locking your vehicle and doing a little preplanning for online purchases …. and have a safe and happy Christmas!
