KAMLOOPS - Police in Kamloops have seized a number of weapons, drugs and stolen identity in connection to a shooting on the North Shore last week.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release police executed a search warrant at a home on Holly Avenue on Oct. 27.
An investigation into two men who were shot on Monday, Oct. 23 at 217 Nelson Ave. led police to the home on Holly Avenue. Kelowna's Emergency Response Team helped Kamloops RCMP execute the search warrant.
Two people were inside at the time of the warrant, Shelkie says, and both were detained during the search before being released later on.
Four firearms were found in the home, Shelkie says, and one of them was loaded. Police also located ammunition, brass knuckles, bear spray, a mace, a Taser and the identification of 37 different people including driver's licences, birth certificates, social security cards and health care cards. Shelkie says 14 of those were reported stolen.
Marijuana and an unknown white powder were seized during the search. The powder has been sent to Health Canada for testing.
"Items located in this residence are concerning to police from a safety perspective," Shelkie says in the release. "Specifically, the house is split-level condominium. The residence that was searched is situated below another residence where a family with small children reside."
Shelkie says the condo is located close to Arthur Hatton Elementary School. Police have been in contact with the property's landlord.
Police are continuing to investigate the shooting on Nelson Avenue and the items seized from the Holly Avenue home. Anyone with information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
