Kamloops RCMP are looking for help identifying a suspect after a robbery on Hillside Drive.

RCMP say at around 8:12 p.m. on Jan. 7 in the 1000 block of Hillside Drive, a man reportedly left a retail store through the emergency exit with unpaid merchandise. RCMP do not identify the business.

According to the RCMP press release, he "flashed what appeared to be a gun" after staff tried to stop him.

Kamloops RCMP initially had three people detained, but later released them because they did not meet the description.

The suspect is described as a 5'7" Caucasian male, around 180 lbs. with neck tattoos. At the time of the robbery he was wearing blue jeans, black and white shoes, a black hooded sweater and a red bandana.

If you have any information related to this robbery, the public is encouraged to phone the detachment at 250-828-3000.

Kamloops RCMP also remind the public its Crime Prevention Unit has been reaching out to local businesses to offer support in limiting "opportunities for criminal activity."

Through a partnership with the City of Kamloops, the RCMP offers the Business Watch Program for business owners. Business owners can opt for a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design assessment for suggestions on creating a more secure environment.
