Two people were arrested in a stolen vehicle in Kamloops early this morning.

According to a Kamloops RCMP media release, a police officer saw the stolen vehicle travelling on East Trans Canada Highway Frontage and Vicars roads at around 3 a.m. today, April 12.

"Shortly after, the vehicle pulled into a gas station and the officer initiated a traffic stop," Kamloops RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said in a media release.

The driver of the vehicle was promptly arrested for possession of stolen property and also issued a ticket for driving without a licence.

The passenger of the vehicle was also arrested for breaking probation conditions. Both were released from custody with a court date pending.

Once the investigation is complete charges are likely to be recommended, RCMP said.

The vehicle was towed and will be returned to its owner.

Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-11832.
