Kamloops RCMP investigating after car crash results in seizure of guns, drugs

A car crash in Kamloops earlier this week led to the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, and brass knuckles.

On Oct. 30, 2023, around 5:55 a.m., Kamloops RCMP officers were dispatched to a collision on Victoria Street West and Mission Flats Road, where a red SUV had struck a white truck, according to a release. Police later found a knife, brass knuckles, and a loaded semi-automatic firearm in one of the vehicles.

“The red SUV was also found to be uninsured and outfitted with a mismatched license plate,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, said in the release.

Three people were taken into custody and later released without process as the investigation continues.

A quantity of illicit drugs exceeding the legal amount for personal possession was also seized.

Several tickets were issued to those involved in the crash for violations.

Anyone with relevant information to this ongoing investigation should contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-38964.
