KAMLOOPS - As the holiday season approaches, Kamloops RCMP officers are extra active in the community making sure roads are kept safe from impaired drivers.
The Kamloops RCMP General Duty and Traffic Services were kept busy this past weekend as they conducted numerous roadblocks which resulted in several charges, according to an RCMP media release.
Officers handed out six 90-day immediate roadside suspension tickets, one three-day immediate roadside suspension, three 24-hour alcohol suspensions, and 20 violation tickets.
"If you plan to partake in substances that can make you impaired, leave your vehicle at home or have a plan," Kamloops RCMP Inspector Steve McLeod says in the release.
Police are reminding people if they plan on going out to have a designated driver, call a taxi, use public transportation or use Operation Red Nose services.
