Kamloops RCMP catch suspected Brocklehurst thief

KAMLOOPS – A suspected thief is in Kamloops RCMP custody because a resident called in suspicious activity in the Brocklehurst area.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Dec. 8, 2015, RCMP were called to the area of Happyvale Avenue and Desmond Street for a suspicious man trying to open doors on vehicles, according to a news release issued by RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush. Police patrolled and located a 40-year-old man removing loose change from a truck in the neighbourhood. The man has a criminal history for similar type offences and will be appearing in court today.

The man was also found to be in possession of several miscellaneous items that police are investigating as possible stolen property. If you discover items missing from your vehicle, please contact Kamloops RCMP to identify them.

"Kamloops RCMP would like to remind citizens that anything visible in your vehicle is an invitation to thieves," Bush said. "Please do your part by removing valuables and keeping other items out of sight. Even small amounts of coins can be enough to lure someone to damage a lock or break a window."
