Kamloops RCMP catch suspect after commercial storage unit break-in

Kamloops RCMP arrested a man after he broke into a commercial storage unit early this morning.

Police were notified of a suspicious person near a storage area on Versatile Drive early this morning, April 22, according to an RCMP media release.

When officers arrived they found no trace of the man, although a broken lock was noticed. A police dog tracked the suspect and found him hiding on a hillside near Costco.

“We are grateful to the citizen who called in this suspicious occurrence,” Kamloops RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said in the release. “Because he took the time to call the police when he saw something that wasn’t quite right, officers were able to successfully locate and arrest the suspect.”

RCMP say the suspect, a 33-year-old man, had break and enter tools in his backpack and was breaching his probation and will be going before a justice of the peace.

No word from RCMP on what charges the suspect faces.
