Kamloops police looking for suspected pickup truck thief

FILE PHOTO

KAMLOOPS – A suspected pickup truck thief got away from police in Kamloops this afternoon.

An officer tried to pull over a pickup seen driving erratically on Summit Drive near Columbia Street at around 2:30 p.m. today, Oct. 11, only to have the driver take off, according to an RCMP media release.

The suspect drove into the parking lot at the Summit Shopping Centre where police closed in, but he jumped out and ran, dropping his hat and jacket.

Despite a search with the help of a police dog, the suspect got away.

Witnesses could only say the suspect is a Caucasian man.

Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
