Kamloops is expected to get smoke from Central and Northern BC fires over the next two days.
The province is warning the public to be mindful of their health over the next 24 to 48 hours in the Kamloops area and most of the province to the north.
The province issued the warning today, July 13, and expects an update tomorrow.
Forecasts show smoke will move southward from large wildfires in the Nechako Plateau, west of Prince George, and others farther north.
There are some wildfires in the Kamloops area this week, but they are relatively small compared to those to the north.
"People with pre-existing health conditions, respiratory infections such as COVID-19, older adults, pregnant women and infants, children, and sensitive individuals are more likely to experience health effects from smoke exposure," the notice from the province reads.
The province advises the public to drink fluids and pay attention to any symptoms that arise because of the smoke.
