A Kamloops man who won $1 million playing the lottery says his dream of owning a home just came true.
Landon Tilitzky is a millionaire after winning the Aug. 12, Lotto 6/49 draw, according to a BC Lottery Corporation media release issued today, Sept. 8.
"It’s unreal,” Tilitzky said in the release. “I still haven’t fully wrapped my head around it. I’ve always dreamed of buying a house and now that’s a reality.”
He bought his ticket at a Petro Canada on Sydney Avenue in Kamloops and come Sunday morning discovered he had a winning ticket.
The first thing he did was contact his dad.
“I sent him a screenshot of the ticket and told him to call me. When he called me back, he kept asking if it was real and for more proof because he couldn’t believe it," Tilitzky said.
His mother was in the same boat.
“I texted her some housing questions and then she quickly began wondering why I was asking her those questions, so I had to tell her then. She was so happy for me.”
Tilitzky plans on treating his parents to a nice dinner and surprising the rest of his family in the Okanagan this weekend with his big winnings.
As a devoted sports fan, you might now catch Tilitzky at a few sporting events, notably at some Seattle Seahawks and Vancouver Canucks games.
