A Kamloops man was assaulted outside of his home in Upper Sahali last night.
Kamloops RCMP received a call about a disturbance on Springview Place around 9:40 p.m. on July 4, according to a press release from police.
While officers were on the way to the disturbance call they were alerted that allegedly the same suspect who caused the disturbance had used a weapon to assault a man outside of his home on Springhill Drive.
The 31-year-old victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
Officers used police dogs to track the suspect and arrest them shortly after the assault. The suspect is still in custody.
“At this time, the motive for the assault is unknown,” Cpl. James Grandy said in the release. “The investigation is ongoing, with RCMP asking anyone who witnessed any part of the incident to call them.”
Police are looking for witnesses so anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and quote file 2024-21150.
