Kamloops launches two apps to help you explore the city

The city just launched an app that will allow you to navigate trails like in Kenna Cartwright Park.

KAMLOOPS - It is now easier than ever to get around Kamloops thanks to the launch of a parks and trails app.

Launched today, Sept. 14, the parks and trails app contains maps of nature park trails with the degree and severity of hills and slopes. This allows users to choose a route suitable to their skill level. The app also displays points of interest for parks as well as a user's current location.

You can also search for parks by their name, address, or by up to 35 different amenities such as playgrounds, sport fields, picnic areas or beaches. Trails can also be searched for by proximity to a location.

Kamloops has five cemeteries; three are historic and two, Hillside Cemetery and Pleasant Street Cemetery, are both active. The cemetery app, also released today, allows users to view maps of the cemeteries, to search for someone interred there or to research the location of a plot. People can search for a plot by its unique identifier or by the name of the person.

Pocket-sized bike maps are also available for free at City Hall, Development and Engineering Services, Tourism Kamloops and the Tournament Capital Centre.
