If you need to shake off the winter blues, maybe dancing in an array of colours while celebrating the ancient festival of Holi is the perfect fix.

The date for the Kamloops Holi festival has been set. On March 14, you can head down to Riverside Park to take part in the Indian ‘festival of colours’ which celebrates the change from winter to spring, and is intended to bring unity and positivity.

The Kamloops festival organizers expect to see between 1,000 and 1,500 people attend the free, colourful celebration. There, you can learn about Hindu culture, listen to a live DJ play Punjabi music, dance in the provided colours and enjoy Indian dishes for $5 a plate. The event starts at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m.

For more information on the event at Riverside Park, check out the Kamloops Hindu Cultural Association’s Facebook page.

This festival should not be confused with Kamloops Holi: Festival of Colours celebration being held on Mar. 21 by the Kamloops Holi Committee and Downtown Kamloops.
