Kamloops fire crews put out a duplex fire this morning.

Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to the fire in the 400 block of Hilltop Avenue on the North Shore at around 5:20 a.m. today, Oct. 19.

One unit of a duplex was fully ablaze when crews arrived.

"They did get a quick knock down and attacked the fire from the outside," Platoon Capt. Wade Lindoff said. "It was contained only to the one unit."

There were no occupants in the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries.

"The other unit of the duplex is habitable, the people were not displaced because of the fire damage," Lindoff said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire investigators and Kamloops RCMP are currently on scene, and fire suppression crews will be leaving shortly, he said.
