Yesterday was the last day for Chief Steve Robinson with Kamloops Fire Rescue.

Robinson has 30 years of experience in the field, and more than five has been spent with the Kamloops fire department.

The department announced Robinson is retiring and called him an "invaluable leader and a man of many hats," according to the department's Facebook page.

Robinson became chief in 2021 and has been involved in leadership at Kamloops Fire Rescue since 2016.

He relocated from Surrey Fire Service where he was began as a firefighter in 1992. Before relocating to Kamloops, he was assistant chief in charge of operations, dispatch and the fire prevention office.

"When asked what he will miss the most, his response was typical of firefighters, the people," according to the fire department's Facebook post.
