Kamloops can expect sunny, warm Mother's Day weekend

A warm and sunny weekend in the forecast for Kamloops.

It’s shaping up to be a pretty nice Mothers Day weekend in Kamloops as the sunshine returns along with rising temperatures.

The forecast is calling for high temperatures around 25 Celsius this weekend in Kamloops but not so much in Ontario.

A May polar vortex is could bring snow and record-low temperatures to the Toronto area on Friday and Saturday, according to the Weather Network. Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury could break cold temperature records on Friday with a forecast of 1.1 C for both cities, as temperatures in southern Ontario are not expected to get much higher than 4 or 5 C for daytime highs.

Dawson City, Yukon, has a more appealing seven-day forecast than Toronto.

Environment Canada says Kamloops can look forward to clearing skies today, May 7, with west winds at 20 km/h gusting to 40 before becoming light near noon. Today’s high should reach 20 C with a low of 6 C.

More sun is in store for the city on Friday and Saturday, with highs of 24 C and 25 C. It’s expected to remain clear both nights, with lows of 8 C .

Sunday promises to be a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 23 C and a low of 9 C overnight, accompanied by cloudy periods.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected for Monday through Wednesday next week, with highs of 20 C on Monday and 22 C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Cloudy periods and lows of 9 C and 10 C are forecast for Monday and Tuesday nights.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 21 C and lows of 7 C.
