KAMLOOPS - An early spring means gardens in bloom all over Kamloops, including inside The Blue Grotto!

This May 12, Kamloops Burlesque is hosting their first ever Fancy Garden Party, so throw on your biggest hat, eat some tiny sandwiches, and skip down the garden path to The Blue Grotto to see our fanciest performances yet.

Kamloops Burlesque performers Miss Coco Creme, Crimson Clover, Cherry Pan Tease, Coco-A-Gogo, Vain Calamity Jane, Dahlia Divine, and Clitzy will be joined on stage by our favourite classy lady, Shirley Gnome!

Shirley Gnome is a self-styled musical comedian and songwriter. Armed with only a guitar and a sassmouth, this chanteuse provocatrice belts out original tunes about the embarrassing, profound, and hilarious adventures that happen when bodies collide. Her music, while smothered in explicit language and racy humor, is sung with the voice of "an angel dry-humping a cloud."

She won over audiences all over Vancouver to become Patrick Maliha's The People Champ of Comedy Competition 2012 Grand Prize Winner, taking home $20,000. She continued this success with critically acclaimed shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the St. Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival. She has graced the stages of several burlesque festivals with her baudy stylings, earning herself a place as a beloved member of the international burlesque community. Her latest success came in the form of a nomination this year for a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Variety Act.

MOVIE REVIEW: In 'The Mule,' Clint reflects on a life on the road
OPINION Both tender apologia and vigorous justification, Clint Eastwood's "The Mule" is a deeply, fascinatingly personal meditation from the 88-year-old director who, like his aged drug mule protagonist,
