The Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops received bags of new, unused toys, art supplies and sports equipment, and they have no idea who left it.

Traci Anderson, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club Kamloops, says the items were likely dropped off when the staff were away on holidays. She says the team at the John Todd Centre held on to the gifts and were wary of accepting them.

“When our administrative team came back in, there was a pile of bagged toys and hockey sticks… we brought it into the office and sort of waited,” Anderson says. “We thought, ‘OK’ enough time had passed, so we decided to thank whoever the anonymous donor was.”

The bags were filled with twelve children’s hockey sticks, a soccer ball, a football, a Twister game, dominoes, colouring pages, markers and other art supplies.

“We’re very grateful for the consideration and the support because we don’t always have a lot of budget dollars to purchase new things. We really appreciate it and it is going to be used.”

This is the first time Anderson has ever seen such an act of anonymous generosity for the kids.

“I’ve been here 26 years and I don’t recall getting an anonymous drop off of equipment,” Anderson says. It goes to show how giving the Kamloops community is, and that somebody did it anonymously, it would be nice to know it was are but I totally respect they want to be anonymous. We’re just really thankful.”
