While the third round of the playoffs underway for both the WHL and BCHL, players from Kamloops and the Okanagan have been racking up the most points.
In the WHL playoffs, Kamloops Blazers forwards Olen Zellweger and Logan Stankoven are tied in first, along with Moose Jaw Warrior forward Jagger Firkus, with 21 points in eight games.
Both Kamloops players have skated in eight games. Zellweger has seven goals and 14 assists, while Stankoven has 10 goals and 11 assists.
Regina Pats forward Connor Bedard, despite getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, is still tied in first for WHL playoff goals, having scored 10 in seven games.
The Blazers play their first game of the third round in Seattle against the Thunderbirds tonight, April 29, at 6 p.m. The two teams played each other in last year’s WHL playoffs when the Thunderbirds won in seven games.
In the BCHL, the Penticton Vees are up one game to none over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Game two is tonight at the South Okanagan Events Centre at 7 p.m.
Just like in the BCHL's regular season, the two scoring leaders of the playoffs are Vees brothers Bradly and Josh Nadeau. Bradly has 12 goals and nine assists in nine games, while Josh has seven goals and 13 assists in as many games.
After the regular season, Bradly was first in points with 113 in 54 games, while Josh finished second with 110 points in 54 games.
Bradly is ranked 17th overall among North American skaters who are eligible for this year's NHL draft.
Vernon Vipers forward Lee Parks is also in the top 10 for 2023 BCHL playoff scoring, with seven goals as six assists in 11 games. However the Vipers were eliminated by the Silverbacks in the second round.
