A bat attack victim in Kamloops will reap the rewards of a court-ordered sale now that his assailant's former home is on the market.

Kristopher Teichrieb's former riverfront home in Brocklehurst was recently listed for $850,000.

Teichrieb owes Jesse Simpson $6.9 million as part of a civil settlement for beating Simpson in an act of vigilantism nearly seven years ago.

The attack left Simpson with life-altering injuries and Teichrieb was convicted of aggravated assault two years after.

He later sold his Kamloops home to his parents for $1 in a move that hid his asset from the $6.9 million settlement. It was deemed a fraudulent move and Simpson mother Sue is to be given the proceeds of a court-ordered sale.

Although the proceeds of the sale are to be paid out to the Simpsons, CIBC is also foreclosing on nearly $540,000 in debt against the home.

Part of the sale may go towards the leftover mortgage and line of credit, but Simpson filed a petition in BC Supreme Court on March 29 to challenge CIBC's attempts to recover the mortgage through the subsequent sale.

The listing price falls more than $100,000 short of the tax assessed value of the home, which BC Assessment says is $973,000.
