Kamloops art gallery to reopen following heist

A Kamloops art gallery that shuttered its doors after a heist in June is reopening next month.

Gallery 635, a private art gallery in the lobby of an office building at 635 Victoria Street had three paintings stolen overnight Wednesday, June 22.

Curator Deb Fong said at the time she no longer felt safe keeping the doors open. Three other businesses also closed their doors in the downtown that month due to safety concerns.

Galley 635 posted on its Facebook page, that it will reopen Sept. 13 for a Vander Wal and Vander Wal exhibition.

The gallery's hours are also listed from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment.

Gallery 635 has been operating for about four years showcasing local artists, but does not have a full-time day attendant on site.
