Kaleden collision under investigation

Police are investigating a single vehicle collision and the vehicle owner's claims following the crash, which occurred early Sunday morning, Aug. 28, 2016, on Lakehill Road in Kaleden.

PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP are investigating a single vehicle collision in Kaleden last week.

A vehicle travelling eastbound on Lakehill Road in Kaleden struck two utility poles Sunday morning, Aug. 28, just after midnight.

The driver was nowhere to be found at the scene, however the registered owner of the vehicle called police to report the vehicle stolen at 6 a.m. the same morning.

Police found no sign of forced entry into the vehicle or of a tampered ignition, and are continuing an investigation into both the collision and the owner’s claim the vehicle was stolen.

A DNA analysis of the vehicle’s airbag is being conducted, which is expected to take some time.
