Kalamalka Rotary kicks off support for Okanagan Rail Trail

The Kalamalka Rotary Club formally announces their support of the Okanagan Rail Trail as of one of the major recipients of funds from their annual Dream Auction to be held on November 19, 2016. Kalamalka Rotary pledges $25,000 from auction proceeds to match funds raised by the Okanagan Rail Trail that evening to equate to a combined $50,000 toward the Rail Trail.

More good news. Because of Kalalmalka Rotary’s commitment, the current matching offer from anonymous donors, originally due to expire on October 31, will be honoured. The result? The $50,000 will be matched by these donors, for a total contribution to the Okanagan Rail Trail of $100,000.

Kalamalka Rotary is pleased to announce this early Halloween Treat. We urge all who attend the 32nd annual Dream Auction to contribute to make this a reality. A distinct portion of the Dream Auction event will be dedicated to fundraising for the Okanagan Rail Trail. Tax receipts will be issued for all Okanagan Rail Trail donations during this special portion of the evening.

The Dream Auction is the largest fundraising event of the Kalamalka Rotary Club, raising approximately $200,000 annually for local and international projects.

When completed the Okanagan Rail Trail will extend 48.5 km: 17.8 km in Kelowna, 2.3 in Okanagan Indian Band, 16.3 km in Lake Country, 12.1 km in Regional District of North Okanagan. The trail will have access to 43 points of cultural and recreational interest within 500 metres of the trail. Visit www.okanaganrailtrail.ca.
