A former hockey coach was charged with voyeurism in Penticton.
William Frank Rotheisler, born 1982, allegedly committed the offence in Penticton on July 27, 2022, according to court records. He is due back in court Dec. 21.
In a Facebook exchange, Rotheisler maintained his innocence and said he has very little information about the allegation.
"I can say I am not guilty of a criminal offence, I believe in the system, and I am confident that I will be found innocent," he said.
Rotheisler’s profile on eliteprospects.com shows he had a role in coaching or management on three KIJHL hockey teams between 2013 and 2022 – they include the Princeton Posse; Castlegar Rebels; and most recently the Creston Valley Thunder Cats. He also coached the Comox Valley Glacier Kings in the VIJHL. Outside of the province, he coached the St. Stephen County Aces in New Brunswick and the Drayton Valley Thunder in Alberta.
"The KIJHL became aware of the charge against Mr. Rotheisler earlier today," KIJHL commissioner Jeff Dubois said in an emailed statement. "He was not employed by the KIJHL or any of its member teams at the time of the alleged offence."
Emails to the RCMP were not responded to before publication.
