KELOWNA - Construction of a congregate care housing project next to Kelowna General Hospital was given final approval by city council today, Oct. 1.
The project will replace three single-family homes on the corner of Abbot Street and Royal Avenue.
JoeAnna’s House described as a two-storey building with 20 “hotel-style rooms to provide accommodation for family’s that have members being treated at KGH,” states a report to council. “It is intended to fill a gap for families who are unable to find affordable accommodation within Kelowna.”
The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation will manage the site.
Council gave final approval to the rezoning bylaw and granted a Heritage Alteration Permit.
