OSOYOOS - A collision between two jet skis claimed the life of a Port Coquitlam woman in the South Okanagan this weekend.
Osoyoos RCMP say a Port Coquitlam woman, 24, was killed in a crash between two rented jet skis on Osoyoos Lake late Saturday afternoon, Aug. 5. Her identity has not been released.
Several boat operators told police they heard someone yelling for help on the lake and saw two jet skis in the water with no one on them, according to a RCMP media release.
The boaters found the two victims in the water; a conscious 24-year-old New Westminster man and the Port Coquitlam woman who was unconscious.
"Rescuers immediately began life saving first aid efforts on the woman... upon arriving on shore others joined in to assist in the first aid efforts," RCMP Cpl. Dave Tyreman says in the release. "The injured woman was transported to be airlifted to hospital but unfortunately she had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased prior to air transport."
"This collision is still under investigation as police are investigating to see if any criminality exists," Tyreman says.
